I also have a 1967.

It is a sweet sailing boat with pretty impressive speed for it's age and weight. Many of the systems will need to be updated if they haven't been already. I regularly sail near the mouth of the Cape Cod Canal on the Buzzards Bay side. With the wind and opposing current you can get 6' chop, and the Alberg handles it with no problem. They are stiff and stable, giving a very smooth motion in the water. Amazingly, they are quite fast even in light air, as they both carry a good amount of sail in a low aspect ratio configuration.

I have found no weaknesses in the design of the Alberg 37 other than the weight (displaces about 20,000 pounds), which becomes a factor only during launch and haulout.

Although not particularly fancy, they are sound and "shippy," both inside and out. Having owned several keelboats, including a Cape Dory, I find the Alberg 37 to be a perfect boat for fast, comfortable voyage-making.
