I'm Considering purchasing a used 1989 Baretta and am not familiar with the manufacturer.  Does anyone have any experience with Barettas?  Are they still being manufactured and by whom.  It has a Volvo 4.3l engine with 270 hrs. Does anyone have opinions about this engine?  Thanks in advance

hello

the Baretta boat that you mention is a truely nice designed one although the wood members are a little shabby but are hidden under floor or fibreglass and must be kept dry after use, always pull the drain plug and raise the stem as high as possable to drain.

I have the Baretta Success 91.1 with a 3.0 and the OMC Cobra drive and do over 40 knots.the fule economy is okay.

I had to repaint my seats centers, and insulate the motor house better, I used krylon plastic paint ((works super))wal-mart under $2.00 a can

as for who made this boat ?I can't say but ive heard the name Melhart associated with the name Baretta boats.

send me a photo of your boat if you can mine is attached, also go to Baretta Success,or baretta Melhart on your web browser.

I am on my way to the lake with my 1978 Baretta 17' bass boat.  I have had it for 9 years and love it.  When I bought it it the floor was rotten because it had been on a lot for several years with the plug in it.  So yes it is correct that the subfloor is subject to water damage.  I would look at that.  I rebuilt the boat and its as good as new. Handles great on the water.

We Love our Barretta, bowrider 200.  (Built by Melhart/Success)  I've had very little success finding information on this boat.  Ours has a Ford 302, and a Cobra outdrive.  This V-8 really hauls you know what out on the water.

I was wondering if SeaRay bought the design, as some 90's Sea Rays have a very similar look to them.  We purchased ours, and gave it some new paint, and rebuilt the interior.

Before: (This is after finishing prep for paint)

After Paint... still need the interior shots taken.  Shown is the old..

Close up of paint in rear.  Engine compartment exhuast now has chrome... but isn't in this pic

Paint is color change from Blue, bright blue, purple, magenta, gold, burnt orange.  New interior is Natural White, with Sand insets, and purple accents.
